Conor McGregor was enjoying lunch aboard his private jet with his son on Friday, but was looking a bit worse for wear as he sported a black eye.

The Notorious MMA fighter has not fought since making his boxing debut in a knockout defeat by Floyd Mayweather in August, and has since been enjoying a dormant spell.

McGregor, who was reported to take home a minimum of £21million ahead of his boxing debut, posted on Instagram as he enjoyed some quality time with his son, McGregor Jr.

‘We are having lunch on the jet on our way to Ibiza, and he is still after the watch too,’ he wrote on Instagram. ‘My young son is like his father. A ruthless animal.’

The 29-year-old hasn’t fought competitively since his defeat by Mayweather, but has insisted his next step will be a return to UFC, where he hasn’t competed since he became the lightweight champion with victory over Eddie Alvarez in 2016.

Reports have suggested that the Irishman would be stripped of the belt after his 14-month spell of inactivity, with current holder of the interim lightweight title Tony Ferguson likely to be his next opponent.

However, while many are awaiting his comeback, UFC president Dana White has revealed he had planned for McGregor’s retirement from mixed martial arts before the Irishman’s bout with Mayweather.

‘In any sport; be it the NBA, NFL, hockey or whatever, no one guy can hold the whole sport hostage,’ White said on The Toucher and Rich Show. ‘That just doesn’t happen.

‘When Conor was getting ready for the Mayweather fight, I was already making plans for Conor to never come back. The company and business goes on. There will be other stars.

‘The NBA didn’t pack it up when Jordan left and they won’t when LeBron leaves either.’
