Conservative commentator Candace Owens has lashed out at Meghan Markle calling her a ‘witch’ after the Duchess of Sussex spoke out about the difficulties she has faced over the past year as a royal.
Owens, who is a well-known supporter of President Donald Trump, took to social media on Monday to criticize Meghan, as well as her husband Prince Harry, to her 1.7 million followers.
‘Using African children as a backdrop to complain about your over-privileged life is offensive,’ Owens said of the American-born Duchess.
She also took aim at Prince Harry, saying: ‘Invoking your own mother’s tragic death to demand the press stop calling out your hypocritical wife is downright disgusting.
‘Meghan Markle is a witch. Harry is under her spell.’

Owens, who counts Kanye West among her supporters, lashed out at the royal couple following the airing of an ITV documentary that featured interviews with Harry and Meghan from their recent Southern Africa tour.
The conservative political activist is married to British hedge funder and fellow conservative George Farmer. Her husband, who she married in August, is the son conservative peer Lord Farmer.
In the ITV documentary – titled Harry & Meghan: An African Journey – Meghan said her first year of marriage to Harry had been difficult because of the pressure from Britain’s tabloid press.
She said her British friends had warned her not to marry him because of the intense media scrutiny that would follow.
But the former actress said she ‘naively’ dismissed the warnings because as an American she didn’t understand how the British press worked.

‘I never thought this would be easy but I thought it would be fair. And that is the part that is hard to reconcile,’ she said. ‘But (I) just take each day as it comes.’
Both Harry and Meghan said they had struggled with the spotlight, particularly because they say much of what is printed is untrue.
Harry has previously accused the media of hounding his wife the same way it did with his late mother, Princess Diana, who died in a 1997 car crash trying to elude paparazzi.
In the ITV interview, Harry said: ‘I will not be bullied into playing a game that killed my mom.
‘Part of this job, and part of any job, like everybody, is putting on a brave face and turning a cheek to a lot of the stuff.
‘But again, for me and again for my wife, of course, there is a lot of stuff that hurts, especially when the majority of it is untrue.’
