A contestant on The Chase Australia suffered an embarrassing slip of the tongue this week when she accidentally said she wants ‘to try cocaine’.

The woman burst out laughing as soon as she noticed her blunder after she was  meant to tell host Larry Emdur she always wanted to try the sport croquet.

The accident occurred after she was asked the question: ‘Pegging out an opponents’ balls is a common tactic in which lawn game?’

When asked why she chose the answer croquet, she told Larry : ‘Well I’ve always wanted to try cocaine,’ before swiftly realising her mistake.

She then said: ‘I mean I’ve always wanted to try croquet because I figure you can have a glass of wine while you’re going.’

Larry, who also had a giggle after the blunder, replaced Andrew O’Keefe as the host of the hit quiz show in 2021.

O’Keefe has had a specular fall from grace in recent years, and in January was filmed kicking and screaming in the back of a police van after being charged with assault.

It was just the latest in a long line of sad scandals for the 50-year-old former Deal or No Deal host, who used to be one of Australia’s most popular TV presenters.

Another new addition to the show, who made headlines for her young age last year, is 27-year-old Mara Lejins.

She joined long-time Chaser Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett and Issa ‘The Supernerd’ Schultz.

Woman’s Day reported that Ms Hegarty ‘expressed disappointment’ at the move to bring in twentysomething Chasers ‘who look like they could be on Love Island’.

Ms Hegerty said she would be ‘p**sed off’ if she were to be replaced by one of the younger recruits because ‘she would not be as good as me’.
