‘I should have done better and I’m sorry’: Contrite Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp takes time to publicly apologise to ‘s***’ German interpreter he called out for wrong translation before Champions League clash in Salzburg
Jurgen Klopp has apologised to the translator he described as ‘s***’ prior to Liverpool’s Champions League tie with Red Bull Salzburg, admitting ‘it was completely stupid’ to call him out for his mistake.
The translator made an error when interpreting an answer by Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson at the press conference on Monday evening to preview the important group stage match in Austria.
German speaker Klopp corrected the translator when he claimed Henderson said Liverpool would be ‘taking it easy’ during a game they couldn’t afford to lose.

Klopp apologised to the translator, saying ‘I should have done better and I’m sorry’
But Klopp atoned following Liverpool’s 2-0 win on Tuesday night that secured the reigning European champions their spot in the last-16.
Before the post-match press conference, he turned to the translator and said in German: ‘Before we start, I’d like to apologise for yesterday.
‘I know that it was unfair and even more so as it happened in public. It was completely stupid. I didn’t like the way my answer was translated, but the way I addressed it was stupid.
‘I should have done better and I’m sorry.’
The translator accepted Klopp’s apology, with the Liverpool manager then joking that he should translate his apology into English.
