Controversial TV presenter drops vile gay slurs on podcast – and you won’t believe his defence: ‘I don’t care if you cancel me’

New Zealand TV presenter Matthew Ridge has unleashed a torrent of homophobic slurs on his new podcast, The Brink.

The former footy star, 55, who currently lives in Grasse, France with his wife Chloe and their children, dropped the f-slur with co-host David Ring during the shock debut episode.

He then told listeners ‘you can’t cancel me’ because his mother and David are homosexual and he was ‘raised’ by the LGBTQIA+ community.

Video clips of the podcast, which Matthew promised would offend the ‘woke’, were shared to Instagram and showed the hosts using slurs.

One conversation in particular involved David describing a gay pride parade as involving ‘bears’, ‘twinks’ and ‘dykes on bikes’.

Matthew promptly cut him off with: ‘Hang on, the guys that we call f**s… I don’t care if you cancel me either. I don’t give a s**t.’

David, who lives in Monaco with his husband of 10 years James Vaile, responded: ‘Well you can’t cancel it because I’m here and I’m not getting offended.’

‘It’s just a f**king word,’ he added, with Matthew explaining: ‘I’ve got plenty of gay friends because my mother’s gay, by the way.’

‘I’ve been raised by the gay community, so to speak. You can’t cancel me,’ he said.

But the conversation didn’t end there as Matthew then accused David of making him feel ‘uncomfortable’ in a previous situation by ‘dressing like a queer’.

‘Like a raving f**king pink. Just don’t dress like a pinky,’ Matthew said.

The Designing Dreams host and socialite became fast friends through Matthew’s daughter Jaime, reported Spy on Saturday.

The pair hit it off during a lunch in Monaco when they bonded over them both having ADHD and a ‘disdain for small talk’.

‘We discovered a mutual love of deep, judgment-free conversation that led to a friendship and a connection we find as baffling as everyone around us,’ David said.

Matthew and David record their podcast while alternating between their respective homes in France and Monaco.
