A Florida mother is furious with her local police department after an officer leaned held a gun inside 10-year-old daughter’s room while the child was cleaning her room.

Officers with the Holly Hill Police Department had been responding to a burglary call on Monday at 5.30pm when the mishap took place.

Kailynn DiCicco was cleaning in her room when she noticed the officer leaning into her room with the firearm.

‘This window was open and he picks up the blinds right here and he says, “Put your hands up and get out of the house,”‘ the youngster explained to WKMG.

Kailyn was shocked to discover that she actually recognized the officer as being the same one who patrols her school in the morning, assisting with traffic.

It was soon determined that officers had responded to the wrong apartment.

‘That’s something that she should never have to experience in her entire life, ever,’ the girl’s mother, Michelle Davis, declared.

Davis shared that the department did apologize for the mix-up. They gave Kailynn a police coin.

In a statement, police shared that they were looking into a vacant apartment that teens had tried getting access to by breaking a rear window on the property.

They added that the officer had noticed that there were two open windows at the buildings and explained that he had heard sound coming from one of them.

‘Officers checked each of the apartments with open ground-level windows, (which) is normal protocol because if a burglar has entered one apartment it would be highly likely that they would enter other units as well,’ police said in a statement.

Police later determined that no crime occurred at the complex.

‘Luckily nothing significant did happen but there’s all the what if’s and it could have,’ Davis stated.
