A former Queensland police officer who was part of the undercover operation to catch Daniel Morcombe’s killer has been accused of breaching a domestic violence order for the fourth time.

The man, who can’t be named to protect the identity of his ex-wife, allegedly sent more than 20 text messages and emails to the woman about their divorce since the protection order was put in place in February.

One alleged text message he sent to his wife and colleagues was a picture of himself holding a tomahawk to his throat, according to The Courier Mail.

He is also accused of sending the woman, who he was married to for 17 years, an apology.

The order states he is only allowed to contact the woman in matters regarding their children.

Prosecutor Tim Wise told the court the man has breached the order repeatedly since it was enacted.

‘The texts and emails, they are masquerading as falling within the definition of the order, but are likely to inflict further torment,’ Mr Wise said.

The man’s defence lawyer Calvin Gnech said his client began to message his ex-wife outside what the protective order allows due to the ’emotional environment’ he was in.

He was granted bail and will appear in court in 2020 over the matter.
