Brave cop, 24, who was stabbed in the neck with a wooden SPEAR makes a miracle recovery and proposes to the love of his life

A police officer who was viciously stabbed in the neck with a homemade wooden spear has made a miraculous recovery and proposed to his girlfriend.
Constable Jacob Vella, 24, was slashed in the neck and hands at a Sadleir home, near Liverpool in Sydney’s west, during a routine arrest on the morning of June 11.
The officer had been visiting the property with his partner to serve a warrant to a 58-year-old when he was allegedly stabbed in the neck with the wooden spear.

He was dragged to safety by colleagues, taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition and underwent emergency surgery.
Mr Vella had only joined the NSW Police Force in April 2017 but has taken time off to recover from the attack.
The 24-year-old seems to have made a full recovery, dropping down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend last week.
‘The smile on my face says it all … so happy to be able to spend forever with this beautiful woman,’ he wrote on Instagram accompanied by images of the proposal.
‘You truly make me smile every single day and I will forever be one lucky guy to have you by my side.’
Mr Vella attended the house on Heckenberg Avenue to serve the warrant to the 58-year-old when a 27-year-old man allegedly lunged at the officer.
‘The weapon that was used to stab the police officer was a crude homemade weapon which comprised of a steel shaft on the end of a wooden stick, as I said it was a crude weapon,’ Assistant Commissioner Peter Thurtell said at the time.

‘We’ve seen a number of incidents where officers have been threatened or wounded, I’ve said before it is a dangerous profession, there are people out there who don’t respect the police uniform and think it is alright to attack officers.’
A father and son were arrested after the attack and taken to Liverpool Police Station where they were later charged.
The 27-year-old was charged with wounding person with intent to resist arrest, wound police officer executing duty reckless as to actual bodily harm, wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty, assault officer in execution of duty, and resist officer in execution of duty.
Meanwhile the 58-year-old was charged with using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, assaulting officer in execution of duty, and the outstanding warrant.
