Earlier in the episode, Kirk had asked Hope to look after Peanut for him while he adn Beth went on holiday, offering to pay her £5, before the cheeky schoolgirl negotiated him up to a fee of £10.

After agreeing to look after the pooch, Hope introduced her own pet Cilla to Peanut, describing him as her ‘new best friend’.

However, Peanut did not appear to like the chinchilla and growled when Hope brought Cilla over in her arms to introduce them.

Fiz and her new husband Tyrone (Alan Halsall) urged Hope to keep Cilla in her cage while she was looking after Peanut ‘just in case’.

Although the dog-sitting appeared to get off to a good start, things quickly took a turn for the worse as Hope noticed that Cilla’s cage was open while she was playing with Tyrone’s daughter Ruby Dobbs (Macy Alabi), who he shares with Kirsty Soames.

Hope then desperately tried to search for Cilla, before letting out a scream as she found her beloved pet hidden behind a chair.

After calling for help from Fiz and Tyrone, it became clear that Cilla had suddenly died, with Hope becoming convinced that Peanut was responsible for Cilla’s mysterious death.

When Beth came to pick up Peanut, Fiz and Tyrone filled her in on what had happened, but she pointed out that there wasn’t a ‘mark’ on Cilla as she refused to believe Peanut was responsible.

The schoolgirl, who is been influenced by tapes recorded by her serial killer father John, will vow to get revenge and even claims that Beth slapped her across the face in a bid to punish Peanut and his owners.

Hope goes to drastic lengths to enact her plan as she kidnaps David’s pet Vin-Diesel and sinks his teeth into her arm, before attempting to blame Peanut for the act.

Hope’s claims could have huge consequences as her parents Tyrone and Fiz offer to discuss the incident, but she reacts badly and storms out.

On Hope’s instructions, Sam reluctantly cons Maria (Samia Longchambon) into handing over Vin-Diesel the weasel from the barber’s.

Asking Sam to leave, Hope carefully places Vin Diesel’s mouth around the skin of her arm, before approaching Peanut and letting out a scream.

Following her revenge plan, Tyrone (Alan Halsall) catches Hope sneaking out of the yard holding David’s weasel, and immediately demands answers.
