Despite the sombre storyline, Sally Ann, 51, and Charlotte Jordan, 26, (who plays Daisy Midgeley) appeared to be in high spirits as they larked around in-between scenes while keeping warm with unmissable red coats.

Each cast member ensured they were dressed in all-black ensembles while the cameras were rolling – with Daisy clutching a giant floral wreath.

Alison later shot a beaming smile at her pals as she stuck her hands in the pockets of her black wool coat amid the chilling October climate.

Johnny’s son Aidan – played by Shayne Ward – died by suicide three years earlier, resulting in his dad lashing out on Jenny and cheating on her with Liz McDonald.

Of that life changing moment, Johnny explained: ‘After that, my life stopped, nothing made sense. Everything’s been all wrong, you know, I tried,’ to which Jenny replied: ‘No, because that sounds like you’re giving up and you’re not allowed to give up.’

Natasha Blakeman and Harvey Gaskell’s lives also hang in the balance after a gang member shot Sam’s mum, mistaking her for Leanne Battersby.

Harvey attempted to hijack Leanne’s car with her in it, but she crashed and he smashed his head on the glass.

Iain MacLeod, Corrie’s executive producer, previously confirmed that Super Soap Week would continue to play out next year.

‘There are brilliant final chapters but exciting novel and new chapters in other stories – some of which are surprising. It’s a launch pad for Christmas and New Year,’ he teased.
