Sydneysiders will soon be able to enjoy picnics in the sunshine after new freedoms were announced for double-jabbed residents. 

The NSW Premier announced the new ‘vax picnic’ rule during her Covid update on Thursday, as the state recorded 1,029 new cases of coronavirus. 

For residents that live outside the city’s 12 LGAs of concern outdoor gatherings of up to five people will be allowed in that person’s LGA or 5km from home. 

For those who reside in the city’s Covid hotspots, households with all adults vaccinated will also be able to gather outdoors for recreation. 

However, residents in the 12 LGAs will have a one-hour time limit on activities and must abide by the 9pm-5am curfew, as well as host recreation 5km from home. 

The new rule will come into force at 12:01am on Monday, September 13.
