- Coronavirus symptoms: what are they and should you see a doctor?
Davina McCall has asked those amongst her social media followers who have tested positive for coronavirus to shed light on their experiences and symptoms.
The presenter, 52, took to Twitter and penned: ‘Me and @matthewdmarsden were wondering if anyone has had and got through the coronavirus on here? Could you please tell us how it was?’
And many who have tested positive for coronavirus were quick to take to the comments section to shed further light on the illness – including BBC Radio4 broadcaster Emma Freud.
‘Seems to be so different for each. Husband seems to have it, fever, aches, no appetite and cough but not horrific,’ wrote one, while Emma Freud added: ‘3 days of persistent dry cough, tight chest (felt like I was a heavy smoker), fever and worst headache of my life. Then all went. Codeine helped. And 100 cups of hot herb tea.’

Amongst the comments included a response from broadcaster Emma Freud, who revealed she had a persistent dry cough for three days and a tight chest (pictured)
Davina told how she was keen to hear stories of those who have come out of the other end as she finds it ‘comforting to know.’
One wrote: ‘I’m on day 5 of self isolation. Day 1 – shivers and very mild cough. Day 2 – fever, high temp (39), mild cough, fatigue. Day 3 – as day 2 but aching all over, cough now frequent. Day 4 – as day 3 but temp won’t come down with paracetamol alone. Day 5 – temp gone, everything else still.’
Another who was on day three told how fortunately their symptoms were mild and explained: ‘Fever then few days later sore throat, headache, muscle pain, dry cough, breathless, also loss of appetite.’
‘End of day 3 appetite is returning, some symptoms fading left feeling breathless.’
People told how their symptoms ranged from a sore throat and headache to muscle pain and breathlessness (pictured)
A third told how she was just getting over in while her husband is currently in the thick of it.
‘We’re both mid 30s, fit & healthy,’ she continued. ‘The cough is horrendous and the shivers are unreal but it does pass! It would be easier to deal with if we didn’t have 2 daughters under 4 in tow, the youngest with chicken pox!’
The TV and radio host went on to offer messages of support to those of her 2.7 million-strong followers who were experiencing anxiety due to the coronavirus epidemic.
She encouraged: ‘We will get through this together’ – before sharing a picture of a meme which read: ‘You can’t calm the storm…so stop trying. What you can do is calm yourself. The storm will pass.’
And many told how they were appreciative of the Twitter thread as they hadn’t heard much from those who had actually experienced it.
‘I’ve hardly seen any reports on what happens to people when they contract Coronovirus… unfortunately I have first hand experience of it as my wife is currently hit hard by it and I mean absolutely floored by it,’ wrote one, while a second enthused:
‘Great tweet, it’s good to know people’s symptoms . I’m so afraid that the UK aren’t testing and we have no idea how many are infected. I’m scared and can’t sleep.. I may be being dramatic but it’s really worrying me.’
Many praised Davina for her Twitter, with one writing: ‘It’s good to know people’s symptoms’ (pictured)
