Coronation Street viewers have predicted that serial killer Stephen Reid will kill Elaine Jones after he accidentally proposed to her while high on LSD.
The dastardly character, played by Todd Boyce, had earlier intended to drug boss Carla Connor as he continues is plot to take over Underworld, however, his plan when disastrously wrong when he mistakenly drugged himself.
Later as a besotted Elaine attempted to comfort him believing he’d had an anxiety attack, his confused words led her to believe Stephen had popped the question – with fans guessing that she’ll soon become ‘victim number 3’ as he’ll bump her off for her money.
Earlier in the day, after Carla (Alison King) spat out her tea complaining over full fat milk, Stephen realised with horror that either he or niece Sarah Platt had drunk the spiked beverage – with things not looking good as they both had a huge presentation coming up.
Later on stage it soon became apparent that Stephen had in fact accidentally drugged himself, with the villain having blurred vision and sweating profusely before running off – forcing Sarah (Tina O’Brien) to take over.

He then rushed back to his hotel room where he soon became overcome with LSD hallucinations, with Stephen being haunted by the ghosts of his murder victims Teddy and Leo.
Meanwhile, a concerned Elaine (Paula Wilcox), who was in the audience to support his pitch, headed to his room alongside Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), with the pair getting a maid to let them into the room.
Elaine persuaded Debbie to let her go into the room alone where she went on to comfort Stephen and suggest he retire and that they should live out their golden years together.
Still bewildered by the drugs, Stephen nodded in approval and said they were ‘for keeps’, causing an ecstatic Elaine to take this as a proposal before hugging the confused killer and declaring her love.
Watching the hilarious scenes play out, Corrie fans were quick to take to Twitter to suggest that Stephen will likely murder Elaine and claim her life insurance money.
‘Hmm. Now let’s see: Stephen and Elaine get married, take out life insurance and then he bumps her off. Victim number 3 coming up’, said one watcher.
While a second remarked: ‘Think Elaine will be for the wheelie bin next.’
A third tweeted: ‘Best #corrie episode ever, hilarious. Don’t think Elaine will make it as far as her country cottage.’

In upcoming scenes, Carla berates Stephen for pulling out of the presentation, leaving Sarah to carry on, making it clear he’s to have nothing more to do with the American deal.
A seething Stephen heads to the precinct with the intent of buying more drugs.
However when two lads pocket his money and laugh in his face, Stephen sees red.
