He is set to be the victim of the soap’s first male rape storyline, waking up to discover what has happened to him after a drunken night out.

And this may be the moment that Coronation Street’s David Platt unwittingly comes to face-to-face with his future attacker, as the charming Josh Tucker organises a charity boxing match.

In the clip, Josh is seen saying to David: ‘I thought you looked pretty handy by the way, when I saw you hitting that bag.’

It has been revealed that David will be raped by Josh in a groundbreaking new storyline, with viewers seeing the aftermath when David wakes up in Josh’s bed after a drunken night out.

David will then struggle to deal with what has happened to him, especially as he continues to see Josh around Weatherfield.

Coronation Street writers are working hard to ensure the plot is handled sensitively, with a source telling The Mirror: ‘With Josh still on the street, David struggles to deal with the shame of what has happened to him. This is a big story line for Jack and everyone is determined to get it right.’

Bosses are said to be working closely with local charity Survivors Manchester to make sure story is told accurately.

While this will be a first for the ITV soap in its 57-year history, male rape has been covered on several other soaps before.

Hollyoaks famously talked about the tragic issue in 2001, when Luke Morgan, played by Gary Lucy, was raped by Mark Gibbs, portrayed by Colin Parry.
