Corrie: Victoria Ekanoye reflects on her dominatrix role

She joined the Coronation Street cobbles in Manchester in recent months following her success in the limelight in America.

But Victoria Ekanoye recalled her dramatically different dominatrix role in E! series The Royals in a recent interview with The Mirror.

Reflecting on her roles, she told the publication: ‘Imagine if I muddled the two roles up. If I turned up for The Royals and said, “Eh up Queen, fancy a brew?”.

‘Or if a whip fell out of my bag in the Rovers while I was reaching for a baby bottle.

‘Oops, sorry about that. So I really don’t want to mix them up, absolutely not. They couldn’t be more opposite.’

Across the pond from the cobbles, the actress previously played the dutiful secretary to Elizabeth Hurley’s character Queen Helena Henstridge in The Royals.

Now Victoria stars in the British soap as Mary Taylor’s daughter-in-law Angie Appleton, wife to her son Jude.

The couple returned from South Africa with their baby son, where they moved for a better life after attending university together.

Arriving to attend Mary’s wedding to Norris, which started as a secret plot to win a Mr and Mrs competition for Mary to visit son Jude in South Africa, Angie quickly becomes suspicious of how genuine their relationship is.

And stirring up further secrets from her mother-in-laws past, Angie is shocked to learn about Mary was raped as a teenager, resulting in her pregnancy with Jude.

The E! star confessed her transition from the American drama to the hit British ITV soap hasn’t been plain sailing in an interview with The Radio Times.

‘I find I’m working a lot harder and faster here on Coronation Street,’ she admits. ‘The turnaround is so much quicker. My script pile for Corrie is huge! So it’s a big change. And because I’m filming both at the same time, I’m back and forth to London, making sure I get the accents right.

‘Angie is originally from the North West, but Rachel on The Royals has received pronunciation. So it’s a completely different headspace,’ she admitted.
