Corrie’s viewers notice gaffe as Bethany Platt testifies

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed a major gaffe on Monday night’s episode of Coronation Street. 

Bethany Platt (played by Lucy Fallon) bravely took to the stand in court to talk about her grooming ordeal at the hands of Nathan Curtis, however it was noted that her sketch was wrong being developed. 

A sketch it always drawn of the accused and it is normally done straight after the court hearing.

Noticing the major court error, one viewer took to Twitter to point out: ‘Erm, why would a court artist be sketching Bethany? She’s automatically entitled to anonymity. #Corrie #CoronationStreet.’

Another viewer backed her up: ‘They have to sketch outside of the courts too not allowed to do so inside.’

In a recent interview with The Sun’s Fabulous magazine Lucy revealed how difficult and draining her months of filming the grooming storyline over the spring and summer were.

She said she was brought to tears when she filmed the horrific rape scene with Nathan’s friend, police officer Neil.

Lucy told the publication: ‘There have been scenes where I have genuinely cried because they’ve been so hard to do.

‘Obviously the rape scene with Neil was the hardest and the one with all of the men in the flat because imagining that actually happening to someone is just horrible.’

Meanwhile, upcoming episodes will see groomer Nathan determined to stop Bethany from testifying against him.   

She mysteriously goes missing, after Nathan’s friend Mel turns up on the cobbles.
