And Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins opened the doors to their stunning Nashville home for House Beautiful ‘s August/September 2021 issue
The incredible home was designed by their friend, interior designer April Tomlin with their vision in mind: ‘I really wanted it to feel like our grandparents’ homes… Their homes – and the memories made in them – are what inspired us to build a home for our family and friends,’ Lauren, 31, said.
The traditional elements of the home was mixed with modern touches, giving the Tennessee mansion their unique stamp on it: ‘There are already stains on the carpets, markers on the walls, fingernail polish spilled on the wood floors, but it is a real and happy home,’ Thomas said.
‘I love how much it holds,’ the Marry Me singer, 31, added.
April said that the home purposely does not have a lot of unused open space: ‘Every wall has a chair or a painting – we had to overdecorate the space to give it that intimacy.’

Thomas and Lauren married on October 12, 2012; They adopted daughter Willa from Uganda after Lauren met her during a trip with the organization 147 Million Orphans.
During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Lauren recalled the moment in 2016 when she met Willa, who was 18-months old at the time and what she told Thomas: ‘I was, like, so moved. This little girl has just taken my heart. I was like, “Honey, we’ve gotta find her her forever home.” Like, I know that’s why I’m here is to get this girl to her home.’
At the time, Lauren and Thomas were trying to conceive but were unsuccessful, leading them to look into their options, including adoption.
Thomas recalled seeing an image of Lauren holding Willa and was struck by the bond they had, evident in the photo.
He said to People: ‘Lauren had this amazing glow about her and it just felt like she was already out daughter in a weird way. I just blurted out, “We should bring her home.”‘
Thomas explained on Kelly’s show: ‘I don’t fully remember even saying it. It was like such a spiritual thing for me that it came out of my body. Then, literally two weeks after, we were having home assessments and talking to adoption agencies.
During the process of adoption, Lauren found out she was pregnant and while she did travel to Uganda during her third trimester to see Willa and try to bring her home, it wasn’t finalized yet.
They made a dozen trips to Uganda during the process of adoption.
‘I could have pushed it, but I just didn’t want to think something could go wrong with my pregnancy,’ she told People at the time. ‘It felt weird leaving one daughter and making sure the other one is okay. But i couldn’t do it another way.’
Her mother and father traveled to Uganda to pick up Willa and bring her to Nashville since she couldn’t travel.
Soon after, Lauren gave birth to daughter Ada and the last year, the duo welcomed daughter Lennon.
