A husband and wife have invented a genius bag to circumvent airline policies that only allow passengers to bring a single bag onto an aircraft.
Johnathan Webster and Gizem Mut-Webster, of New York City, went backpacking in Europe while in college and didn’t want to pay luggage fees to check extra bags onto an airplane.
Many airlines only allow passengers to bring one carry-on and one personal item with them in the aircraft, and any additional belongings usually have to be checked.

Thus, Gizem and Johnathan have created their own luggage brand, Wool & Oak, to address these concerns.
Their range of products includes a special bag that they say can help circumvent baggage restrictions during air travel.
At first, the bag looks like a regular backpack with two straps and two handles at the front, and nothing about its appearance seems too out of the ordinary.
But once on the plane, the bag can actually separate into two different containers.

The larger bag is made out of two parts that are zipped together, with the base being a slim backpack.
Customers can then attach a larger bag to it, keeping the backpack shape, or pick a duffel bag attachment that can be carried by hand.
The idea behind the design is that travelers can board their planes with just one carry-on, thus complying with the regulations, while having the storage space of two different containers.
Johnathan told Business Insider he has been able to store up to two weeks’ worth of belongings in the bag.
‘I haven’t been caught yet,’ he said of his experience using the backpack.

Size: Wool and Oak’s three bags—the base backpack, the larger backpack attachment, and the duffle attachment, are all 16.75 inches in height and 13 inches in length
The brand currently offers a ‘voyager set’, which includes the small base backpack as well as two attachments—the duffle bag and the larger backpack—for $635.
Customers can also purchase the small backpack on its own for $215, the base backpack and duffle bag duo for $445, or the small and large backpack set for $420.
While authorized sizes for carry-ons can vary per airlines, United, Delta, American Airlines, and JetBlue, all ask their customers to stick to maximums of 22 inches in height, 14 inches in length, and nine inches in depth.

As for depth, the base backpack sits at two inches, the larger backpack goes up to six inches, and the duffle bag reaches 10.5 inches.
The brand uses full grain-cowhide for its leather products, which are all sourced in Italy.
Its designs are currently available in five colors: sand, navy, oak, black, and chocolate.
