Couple left horrified after potential buyer left a nasty surprise in bathroom during open inspection

A couple was left horrified when they saw the shocking state their bathroom was left in after opening their doors to potential buyers over the weekend.

Sydney couple Sarah McGilvray and James Couche were left with a nasty surprise after someone used their toilet during the open house.

The couple put up their three bedroom terrace in Balmain in Sydney’s inner west on the market for $2.1 million after renovating the property.

Ms McGilvray, breakfast radio host on Nova FM, expected the open house to be uneventful, reported news.com.au.

The lavish three bedroom terrace house had an open house on Saturday, where the owners were left with a nasty surprise

Revealing the outcome of the inspection on air, she expressed that it didn’t go as smoothly as she’d expected.

Upon returning home after the inspection was complete, she noticed a ‘smell that wasn’t right’ while sitting in the living room with her mum, she told co-stars Fitzy and Wippa.

At first she thought the flowers had gone off, but upon inspecting the bathroom, she saw what the issue was.

‘I went to the bathroom and there’s some footprints on the floor … but they didn’t just walk into the bathroom.

‘They’ve taken their liberties with it … and used the facilities, shall we say.’

After spending hours scrubbing and ‘sprucing the joint’ the morning prior to the open house, Mc McGilvray was bewildered that the mystery person has tried – yet failed – to keep it clean.

‘To their credit they did pull the chain … but left a mess,’ she said.

She laughed the situation off, confirming that the mess was in fact ‘not a tinkle’.

After talking with the real estate agent they were made aware that the house had attracted quite a few people, with the bathroom user putting the couple in an embarrassing situation.

She was relieved that the incident occurred towards the end of the inspection, assuming that anyone who went through the house afterwards would’ve thought both her and her husband couldn’t clean up after themselves.

The three bedroom, one bathroom home sits on a 135sq block and has views of the Harbour Bridge from the terrace.
