Couple reveal their naked neighbour won’t cover up

A couple have revealed their embarrassment at living opposite a neighbour who sleeps naked – and with the curtains wide open.

In the Mumsnet post, Sparklyshoes16 explains that the couple are regularly faced with their ‘butt naked’ neighbour – and that requests for her to cover up have so far been ignored.

The response to Sparklyshoes16’s request for advice on whether they should confront their exhibitionist co-resident was met with short shrift – with one user declaring: ‘If she wants to strip naked, it’s her house and her prerogative.’

The exhibitionist next door! A Mumsnet user posted her and her husband’s embarrassment at regularly catching their next door neighbour wearing no clothes in her bedroom

The original post told Mumsnet users: ‘My husband opened our curtains this morning after we’d got dressed etc to find her stood staring across butt naked…husband went bright red and nearly ripped the curtains down pulling them shut.’

Sparklyshoes16 then reveals that another neighbour had also noticed the regular nudity and had made a request for the resident ‘to put up a net curtain or draw the curtains’ – which had clearly been ignored.

Surprisingly, the Mumsnet crowd largely sided with the exhibitionist.

BertrandRussell said: ‘Have you considered not looking?’ while gamerchick wasped: ‘Or you could stop peeping at her.’

'It's only a naked body' Many Mumsnet users weren't sympathetic to the couple's angst, saying the lady in question could wear what she wanted to in her own home

GreenTulips suggested that it wasn’t really unusual behaviour or at least not criminal: ‘She’s my doing anything wrong or illegal. Why’s your husband so shocked? It’s only a body.’

AnnieAnoniMouse added: ‘Stop staring into her house. Presumably you’ve both seen naked people before, stop being so ridiculous about it.’

Originalfoogirl chimed in: ‘If you don’t like it, don’t look. I doubt the window is so close you can’t look elsewhere.

‘It’s her house, if she wants to be naked in it, that’s her prerogative.’

A few lone voices defended the couple. Imalloutofoptions wrote: ‘OP [original poster] not peeping by simply looking out of her own windows?! Who expects their neighbour to be full on starkers with no curtains!’

Under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, it is not an offence to be naked in public in England and Wales.

It becomes an offence if it can be proved the person stripped off with the intention to cause distress, alarm or outrage.
