Couple’s dream home in Missouri which is ‘too haunted to live in’ is being rented out on Airbnb

A couple who moved out of their dream home seven months after buying it because of ‘paranormal activity’ are now renting out the property on Airbnb.

Aaron and Erin Clark bought the 5,000-square-foot home, known as the Hobo Hill House, at 500 E. Miller Street in Jefferson City, Missouri in August 2017, and lived there with their two small children.

However the couple became worried when inexplicable things began happening in the three-bedroom home, which was built in 1910.

Aaron Clark said that taps in the kitchen sink, TV, lights and heaters would mysteriously turn on by themselves soon after they moved in.

But alarm bells started ringing when their daughter Raena, 8, began having nightmares and sleep walking and at one point appeared ‘possessed.’

Clark told KRCG: ‘She was standing outside of her bed staring out the window and she was still crying, just sobbing, I could see her shoulders going up and down, and I was like “Raena what’s wrong? Are you OK? Are you OK?”.

‘And she turned around and it scared the life out of me because it went from crying to this Cheshire big smile, kind of like the joker.

‘It seemed as if she was possessed because she would be really wide-eyed and shaking,’ he said.

Adolph and Beulah Brandenberger built the house at 500 E. Miller St. in 1910 and lived there until they sold it in 1922. Since then it has been owned by multiple people

The couple said there were constant noises in the house from large thuds to voices which they said would say ‘hi’ when they entered the home.

‘The craziest thing, besides my daughter, at least in my opinion, was both my wife and I, from the corner of our eyes, saw a tall man in a suit and top hat,’ he explained.

The family moved out of the property after seven months because of the strange goings-on. However they now run a short-term rental business which is based out of Hobo Hill House.

They claimed they have received more interest in the property after it was featured on the Travel Channel’s The Dead Files on August 1.

The episode saw experts visit the home who confirmed some of the paranormal activity in the home.

Clark said: ‘I was happy to know we weren’t crazy, that what we were feeling and experiencing was correct.’

The couple have now decided to rent out the house on Airbnb for $275 per night which accommodates up to 10 guests.

Clark explained: ‘We didn’t think it would be right selling to another family knowing what we know.

‘We’ll just turn lemons into lemonade, and since the prison is so close and people in Jeff are interested in that sort of thing, we’ll just turn it into a short-term Airbnb and people can stay and have experiences.’

A description reads: ‘This home away from home will meet all your needs. From our cozy bedroom to our full kitchen Hobo Hill will not disappoint.

‘And if you are into the paranormal this house has been featured on the television show ‘The Dead Files’ (August 1st 2019).’

Adolph and Beulah Brandenberger built the house in 1910 and lived there until they sold it in 1922, according to the News Tribune. Since then, multiple Jefferson City residents have owned that home.
