Wedshed say the registry is useful as it can take the pressure off guests, you can ask for more than just monetary gifts, there is less waste from unwanted gifts and it’s convenient.

One of the most popular gift choices listed was cooking the newlywed couple dinner.

Another popular choice was couples looking for their friends and family to contribute to their IVF funds, as it is known to be a very expensive process.

One woman shocked her guests by asking them to give her husband a back, sack and crack wax.

Surprisingly, 12 of her dedicated friends and family offered to do the job.

Several couple who asked their guests to help out with their dog minding responsibilities by puppy-sitting when they go on holidays.

One couple even asked guests to get matching tattoos to commemorate the bride and groom's big day

The final novel gift request was for their guests to get matching tattoos to commemorate the bride and groom’s big day.

Some of the gifts may seem unusual, but many couples say they would prefer to get something they would actually use, rather than end up with something they hate.

Newlyweds previously took to Reddit to share the gifts they received that they hated.

One woman said her future uncle-in-law, who is renowned for always giving ‘the worst gifts’ mailed them an early present of a rusted ashtray.

‘We don’t smoke,’ the woman laughed.

Many couples said they had been given presents that were clearly re-gifted.

‘For my bridal shower, my ex-husband’s aunt gave me a picture frame that was regifted. It still had the card to her from another person in the frame box,’ one woman said.

She explained that her ex was upset with the gift and returned it to his aunt, but she gifted it to them again on the wedding day, with the original card still there.

One man said him and his bride-to-be were given a ‘used food processor’ that still had crusted remnants of food.

Another said he received a toilet brush and plunger, however, he admitted that although a strange choice for a wedding gift it is very practical.
