Courteney Cox didn’t understand the big deal about being an empty nester until after her daughter’s first year of college.
The Friends star, 60, opened up about her experience when speaking to the Inc. 5000 45th Annual Conference & Gala in Palm Desert, CA on Thursday, per People.
The actress, who shares her daughter Coco, 20, with ex-husband David Arquette, 53, told the audience ‘It’s weird because people get upset the first year your kid goes off to school and I was like, “What’s the big deal? She doesn’t talk to me anyway, she’s always in her room.”‘
The Scream star said it hit her after Coco returned home for summer break.
‘Then she comes home after her first year in college and she was all mature and talking more,’ Cox explained.

‘And I mean, she’s incredible. She’s a really special, smart, funny kid,’ she said of her only child.
‘But then I was like, I don’t want you to go back to college,’ she admitted to the crowd. ‘The second year was harder for me.’
Neither Cox nor Arquette has revealed where their daughter is matriculating.
Cox posted a sweet mother-daugther photo on social media when she revealed she had named a skincare line named for Coco as part of her Home Court brand.
‘I’m so excited to introduce the Cocomoi Body Collection, our new line of luxurious body care essentials,’ she wrote inntroducing the line which includes ‘sophisticated scent with notes of coconut, cedarwood, and fig.’
The company founder explained the new scent ‘ has characteristics of my signature fragrance, Cece, symbolizing my connection to my daughter, Coco… The inspiration for Cocomoi.’
Fans of the Scream franchise are anxiously awaiting to see if Cox will sign on for the seventh film in the series.
The actress has been playing protagonist Gail Weathers since the first Scream was released in 1996.

The actress still has time to make a decision.
The outlet reported filming is supposed to begin in Atlanta in December.
