Covid testing clinic chaos across Melbourne as thousands race to check if they’re infected amid lockdown fears
Melbourne’s Covid-19 testing clinics have been stretched to their limits as thousands of the city’s residents rushed to be swabbed amid the latest outbreak in cases.
The line of motorists queueing up at the testing centre in Epping in Melbourne’s north was backed up for half-an-hour on Wednesday at dawn.
Victoria recorded 11 new cases of Covid on Wednesday, but five of them were reported late on Tuesday – bringing today’s new cases to six and the size of the outbreak to 15.

Acting Premier James Merlino said the ‘genesis’ of the outbreak was a breach at a quarantine hotel in South Australia.
