Urgent Covid alert for thousands of Aussies as Covid fragments are found in an unexpected city’s wastewater
- Second ‘strong positive’ trace of Covid-19 found in wastewater in Adelaide CBD
- Residents have been warned to get tested even if they have very mild symptoms
Residents in Adelaide have been urged to get tested for even mild symptoms after Covid-19 traces were found in the city’s wastewater.
A ‘strong positive’ result for Covid-19 fragments were detected in the sewer water on Sunday.
After further testing was carried out, a second ‘strong’ result was found on Monday night.
South Australian health authorities have urged for anybody who has been in Adelaide’s CBD within the past week and has even very mild symptoms of the virus to get tested.
‘At this stage, given that there is as yet no clear explanation to the wastewater detection result, it’s imperative that anyone who has been in the Adelaide CBD in the past week seek immediate testing if they have any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild,’ authorities said in a statement.
The catchment where the positive traces have been found services around 12,000 people.
More to come.
