  • She then attached a top bunk bed onto the two single beds with sturdy bolts
  • She painted the beds and decorated with pictures, rugs and cushions

A crafty mum has showed off her clever DIY three-way bed design that allows all of her daughters to sleep in the same room together.

Australian mum Karlie built her own bunk bed set-up from scratch when she couldn’t find what she needed in-store and custom builds were too expensive.

She was desperate to create more space for her three daughters in their pint-sized 84 square metre room, so decided last October to take matters into her own hands.

Karlie first planned and sketched out the entire bedroom by hand so she knew exactly what the final product would look like.

As there was a timber shortage in 2021 due to Covid and shipping constraints, she innovatively dismantled her daughters’ bunk beds and cut them up to create a loft with two single beds.

Next she attached a top bunk bed to the now two single beds with sturdy bolts and gave the wooden beds a fresh coat of white paint.

Once the DIY beds were complete Karlie began decorating.

She purchased a corner shelf from Facebook Marketplace and painted it white to match the beds.

Karlie says her three girls love the DIY bed set up just as much as she does and she couldn’t be happier with the room that’s successfully opened up the small space.

‘What a wonderful set up – love it – absolute genius! So pretty but still so functional,’ a woman wrote below Karlie’s post.

‘The room looks amazing! You must be so proud of yourself,’ a mum wrote.
