A photograph showing the scene of a car crash site, with a ‘thank you for driving carefully’ sign uprooted by the accident has been dubbed a ‘special kind of British irony’. 

The photo depicts a lime-coloured car losing the battle with a country road and being flung into trees at the side of it at an unknown location in England.  

The front of the car is bdaly smashed in, and a tree appears to have been felled by the impact.

Also clearly ruined by the impact is a sign that thanks motorists for driving carefully. 

The ironic scene was captured by a passerby and uploaded to Reddit and shared in the Casual UK group.

The hilarious post received nearly 750 up-votes and had scores of comments underneath the image.  

Also visible in the photo is a man standing next to the written-off car taking a picture of his own, and flanked by an emergency services vehicle. 

The airbag appears to have inflated and fortunately no-one appears to have been hurt.
