A Mississippi State Trooper knocked out an Ole Miss football fan on Saturday night while trying to protect Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin while supporters stormed the field.
Thousands of Rebels fans made their way onto Vaught–Hemingway Stadium’s turf seconds after Ole Miss’ victory over then-third-ranked Georgia.
Security quickly surrounded Kiffin to escort him off the field and away from a possibly dangerous situation.
As soon as ESPN’s cameras spotted Kiffin from afar, one trooper to the coach’s right delivers a strike to one fan’s head, who falls down and off screen. The fan is not accounted for in the rest of the video.
Both troopers surrounding Kiffin shoved several people out of the way to make room for an escort to the locker room, with none coming in more emphatic fashion.

The strike from the trooper came seconds after Kiffin had done the typical postgame handshake with Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, who had his own security detail to get him off the field in hostile territory.
The field storm where the punch took place was actually the second time Rebels’ fans had made their way onto the turf.
With 16 seconds left on the clock, fans from both sides of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, rushed the turf, causing chaos, even if the result was a formality.
Before the Rebels offense could kneel the ball and bring the clock to all zeros, thousands of Ole Miss fans were on the field to celebrate.
Kiffin was caught on camera furious with the disruption to the game, saying it was ‘f***ing ridiculous’, referring not to the passion from the Rebels fans moments before his biggest win as Ole Miss coach became official.
The field was cleared after several minutes, then the properly timed field storming and punch from the trooper occurred.
