Cricket legend Steve Smith drops the price of his luxury Bronte bungalow by $500,000 as he struggles to sell it for $7million

Steve Smith has cut the asking price of his luxury Sydney beach pad by $500,000 after he and wife Dani Willis struggled to sell it at $7million.

The cricket legend, 34, who bought the bungalow for $3.5million in 2019, has also scrapped the scheduled auction date twice.

The couple’s initial price expectations have been dropped to a $6.5million private treaty price guide, reported The Sunday Telegraph.

Despite failing to find a buyer for the Gordan Place property, the listing still remains with Tanya Hatton and Frank Colacicco from Bentley Estate Agents.

It seems Steve is attempting to score big once again after selling his Vaucluse mansion for $12.38million last year, which was double what he initially paid in 2020.

The sportsman listed his current eastern suburbs home last month with the four-bedroom, three-bathroom Bronte property initially listed for auction last Saturday.

Steve expected to land $7million after he splashed out on a major renovation when he bought the pad for $3.5million in 2019.

Located just 9kms from the CBD and situated only streets away from Bronte beach, the original dwelling was built as a single storey California bungalow.

Steve did a complete overhaul and totally made over the home, adding a second level, bathrooms and a fourth bedroom.

The new design converted the mid-20th century original into a chic ultra-modern resort style home.

Highlights include an expansive open plan layout, European oak floors and a salt water plunge pool.

There’s also an undercover outdoor entertainment deck/BBQ area, a limestone terrace and a heated outdoor shower.

Other highlights include an over-sized kitchen with a breakfast island, marble bench tops and an induction cooker.

Meanwhile, the second storey main bedroom boasts a private balcony which offers stunning ocean views.

According to documents submitted to Waverley Council by Daniel Sutton at precision Planning, the renovations set Steve back $495,000.
