The 27-year-old Adelaide Strikers player finished the season as the tournament’s top run-scorer with 458 runs at an average of 35.23 – beating out Perth Scorchers wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis for the top gong by three votes.

Short and Wilson turned heads when they arrived on the red carpet in the couple’s first public outing together.

Wilson made headlines in 2021 when she was hospitalised with Covid-19 while travelling in Italy for the International Swimming League.

Both took to social media to share photos from the happy occasion on Monday night. 

‘Ending BBL12 thanks for all the messages and support, hopefully bigger things next year,’ Short wrote on Instagram.

‘Deserves the hardest launch,’ Wilson posted alongside a rocket emoji.

The all-rounder also claimed 11 wickets this season with his offspin, with best figures of 3-14.

Ricky Ponting has declared that Short should be on the radar of Indian Premier League clubs, while many other fans and players have called for him to be called up into the Australian T20 side.
