It comes after David Warner’s form slump turned into a nightmare during the first Test on Saturday with the Aussie opener removed for a golden duck.

The battle between Warner and South African pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada had loomed as a highlight of the Test, but the seamer made short work of the Aussie opener who was caught by Khaya Zondo at short leg.

It was only the second golden duck that Warner has fallen for in his career and the first in nine years. It continued a woeful run of form for the 36-year-old, who averaged just 25.5 in the recently completed two-Test series against the West Indies side and just 23 in nine Tests this year.

‘This little battle, four times Rabada’s got Warner but it has come at 166 runs off 143 balls, usually it is entertaining, here we go,’ former Aussie wicketkeeper and commentator Adam Gilchrist said as Rabada steamed in.

‘It is a golden duck for David Warner, make that five for Rabada, a wonderful catch in close,’ Gilchrist added as Warner departed.

‘Immediate strike by South Africa, oh what a start.’
