Cristiano Ronaldo has thanked the Juventus supporters for applauding his spectacular overhead kick against them in the Champions League.

The Real Madrid talisman reveals it was a ‘great memory’ for him and has even admitted to liking the Italian champions when he was younger.

Ronaldo doubled Real’s lead in the first leg of their quarter-final clash with a stunning bicycle kick to bring all four stands of the Juventus Stadium to their feet.

The Portuguese forward seem taken aback and appeared very gracious after he finished celebrating with his team-mates.

When asked about his reaction to the standing ovation, Ronaldo told Real Madrid’s official YouTube channel: ‘It was one of the most beautiful moments of the night.

‘To receive an ovation from the stadium with so much history, is a unique experience.

‘I am really happy and touched. When I was a kid, I liked Juventus and the fact that their fans have applauded me will stay with me. It’s a great memory. 

‘To all of the Italians in the stadium I just want to say: “Grazie!”‘

The 33-year-old appeared gracious after receiving the ovation and thanked the Juventus fans

Ronaldo, who has now scored 39 goals in 36 games in all competitions this season, has labelled the spectacular finish as ‘probably the best goal’ of his career.

He said: ‘People are now talking about my second goal. It was indeed a spectacular goal.

‘It was probably the best goal of my career. I want to thank the whole team, we were great today (Tuesday).’
