As well as looking to prove he is the greatest footballer of all time on the pitch, Cristiano Ronaldo has opted for a goatee to back his claim as the ‘GOAT’ as he arrived for Portugal’s World Cup clash with Morocco.

The Portugal captain celebrated his opening goal against Spain on Friday by making the famed gesture – the brush to the chin claiming he is greatest of all time – before going on to fire in a hat-trick to earn a valuable 3-3 draw with Spain.

And as he looks ahead to a crucial second game against in Moscow, he arrived with his new look on display, focused on the matter at hand.

The Real Madrid superstar has never been one for facial hair, and it seems strange that he would opt to make this change midway through a World Cup tournament.

Portugal’s captain made his way to the dressing room before kick-off, sporting his new look.

Ronaldo’s treble sees Portugal enter this tie in joint second in group B behind surprise leaders Iran.

With Wednesday’s match-day two set to take part at the host stadium for the final – the Luzhniki – both teams were welcomed to the capital with a large spread of fruit laid out for them.

Energy is exactly what the Moroccans will need to if they have any hope of overcoming the European champions in what would be an incredible – but extremely unlikely – victory.

It is a game that carries equal weight for both sides, with Portugal looking to pip Spain and Iran to top spot and Morocco set to be dumped out of the tournament should they fail to get a result.

Spain will face Iran in the group’s other encounter in Kazan later the same day.
