This is the terrifying moment a huge Nile crocodile silently chases down an unsuspecting  baby gazelle in a river in Kenya.

The young gazelle and its mother had made the risky decision to cross the crocodile-infested Mara river in the Masai Mara, Kenya.

As the pair swam across the water, one of the crocodiles  targeted the pair, sliding through the water with its teeth exposed,

In the intense pictures of the ambush, the crocodile can be seen edging ever-closer to its seemingly oblivious prey.

The next second, the predator has opened its mouth wide and is seen snapping its jaws around the head of the gazelle, dragging it to its death.
