Crowds flock to Rosehill races on a scorching day

Sweltering summer temperature didn’t appear to keep happy punters away from Sydney’s Rosehill racecourse on Saturday – but a few savvy men and women in the crowd did alter their outfits for the searing heat.

Two young women were spotted carrying dainty blue and bamboo parasols on the day to protect themselves from the sun.

They were also wearing dainty head and neck scarves, oversized sunglasses and matching off-the shoulder tangerine frocks – which reflected the summer vibe.

Other punters wore flowers in their hair or in the print of their dresses – reflecting the fresh buzz of spring.

One man, dressed in a blue gridded suit with matching tie, dragged a blue and white esky behind him – seemingly prepared for the mercury to arrive well above the month’s average.

Other punters made the most of the plastic chairs and shade umbrellas to escape the unseasonably hot conditions. The De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose Day kicked off spring racing in the city’s west.

Other women, dressed in bright summer colours, appeared to be keeping cool with glasses of Rose wine and large hats.
