Croydon robbers slash woman with giant knife in moped attack

  • Family were ambushed in a car in Coulsdon, south London, on Friday at 5.45pm
  • Woman were cut on the hand as one of the masked men tried to take bracelet
  • Family members, two women in their 70s and 66-year-old man, were unharmed

Masked robbers on a moped slashed a 30-year-old woman with a giant knife after ambushing a family in a car in south London on Friday.

Two men approached the four relatives, who were in a car on Keats Way in Coulsdon, at around 5.45pm and demanded they hand over their jewellery.

One of the men on the silver moped cut the woman on the hand as he tried to take her bracelet before making off with a small amount of jewellery.

The woman’s relatives, two women in their 70s and a 66-year-old man, were unharmed.

One of the masked men had a large knife, and it is believed the other suspect was also carrying a blade.

A Metropolitan police spokesperson said: ‘The suspects are described as two white males, aged in their late teens or early 20s. 

‘Both were of slim build and wore dark coloured tracksuits, black crash helmets and facemasks.’
