A schoolboy has been brutally bashed by cruel bullies who kicked him so hard it severed his kidney.

Adam Jay, 12, was set upon in a laneway and left for dead in Brisbane’s south by three other students from his high school.

His mother said she came home to find her son with the horrific injuries and rushed him to hospital, where doctors revealed the attack had split his kidney in two.

‘I came home and he yelled out “mum”. I went in there and there was blood. I thought, oh my God what’s happened,’ his mother Monique said.

The youngster – who his parents say had been bullied at school but was too scared to report it to them – required multiple surgeries following the brutal attack.

Doctors said the only way he could have suffered injuries of that nature was from being kicked in the side, A Current Affair reported.

The boy was waiting for his mother to get home when he was targeted by his more senior classmates, who he tried to avoid at first by hiding out of sight.

‘He went around behind a group of shops (to avoid the bullies) and they thought it was alright to abuse him and kick him while he was sitting on the ground,’ she said.

She said she knew one of the boys who carried out the vicious assault – and that he even waved at her while she out with her dog.

Police said they were investigating the incident, and the school said they would be co-operating with Queensland Police.

His mother, who spent three weeks by his bedside during his recovery, claimed the school refused to get involved with the incident because it happened off school grounds.

‘The alleged assault occurred outside school grounds and during the school holidays,’ the Queensland Department of Education said in a statement.

‘The school has worked extensively with the student and their family, and will continue to provide all necessary support.’
