‘Cruel’ King Charles costume with plastic EARS goes on sale weeks before coronation

A ‘cruel’ King Charles costume is selling online weeks before the coronation – and some royal fans aren’t impressed by the addition of plastic ears.

The outfit – which is for sale on Amazon UK for £32.95 – includes a long, red, white and black robe, a crown and a rather controversial pair of plastic ears.

But the costume hasn’t gone down well with some royal fans, who have accused the brand of ‘bullying’ by selling the fancy dress attire – which has a one star rating.

One customer, from south west London, added that the ears are ‘horribly cruel and unnecessary’. ‘Bullying is not acceptable on any level,’ they said.

The costume was spotted for sale just weeks before the King’s coronation, which will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6.

Leaked plans have suggested that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will star in the coronation procession – while other royals will not appear.

The Prince of Wales’s children are expected to join their parents in a carriage behind Charles and Camilla, who will be in the Gold State Coach, according to rehearsal documents seen by The Times.

Harry and Meghan still have not officially indicated whether they will attend the Coronation. Even so, staff are making plans so that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will be able to join the celebrations if they do.

As the date draws nearer, those on social media had mixed reactions to the emergence of the King Charles costume.

While some were less than impressed, others poked fun at the Royal Family.

‘It’s about time we all stopped bullying the Royal Family,’ one man said on social media. ‘And got back to worshiping them like good obedient subjects are supposed to be.’

Another said: ‘I think it’s pretty accurate.’

And a third person joked: ‘Let’s ‘ear it for the new King.’

However, some users did defend the King, with one saying: ‘They’re certainly not Charles’s ears.’

It comes after rehearsal plans for the King’s coronation appeared to confirm who would be involved in the momentous day.

The leaked plans allegedly show that Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children will process out of Westminster Abbey on May 6.

They will be joined by the Princess Royal, her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra.

Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Harry and Meghan are not expected to participate.

There is little chance of the Sussexes’ children being part of the ceremony itself given their ages – Archie will turn four on the big day itself and Lilibet will be one.
