  • Sarr spent four seasons with Watford before joining Marseille last summer

Crystal Palace have agreed to pay £12.6million for Marseille forward Ismalia Sarr who is poised to sign a five-year contract.

Marseille president Pablo Longoria has given the green light for Sarr to make a quick return to the Premier League.

The player will now travel to London to undergo a medical before the move is made official.

Palace’s sporting director, Dougie Freedman, is known to be a fan of Sarr’s, too, with reports saying he’s pursued the player for more than six years.

It was believed that Sarr wanted to stay in France but was also open to joining a Premier League club again.

The player will fit in nicely with the Eagles’ attacking line, after winger Michael Olise joined Bayern Munich earlier in the window, and a number of clubs are already monitoring midfield star Eberechi Eze.

A move to south London wouldn’t be alien to Sarr, either, having already spent four years in England playing for Watford.

He scored 34 goals and provided 22 assists in 131 games for the Hornets, between 2019 and 2023, picking up widespread plaudits along the way

Sarr left Vicarage Road last summer, signing for Marseille for an undisclosed fee.

He contributed five goals and six assists in 35 appearances in all competitions last season.

The French side will look to use funds from the sale to step up their pursuit of Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah, after they wrapped up their deal for Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on Monday.
