Crystal Palace are poised to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri after agreeing a short term contract until the end of the season.
The Brazilian and his representatives from the LM03 sports agency agreed terms at Palace’s training ground on Wednesday.
Talks began in the second week of February, as reported by Sportsmail.
Diego Cavalieri is poised to sign for Crystal Palace as injury cover for Julian Speroni
Cavalieri, who worked with Roy Hodgson briefly while the two were at Liverpool, had to tie up loose ends with his former club Fluminense after ending his contract there.
The 35-year-old has already been training with Palace and adapting to his new surroundings in recent weeks.
He will provide back-up for Wayne Hennessey while Julian Speroni is out with a knee injury. He has three caps for Brazil.
Cavalieri did not figure in the Premier League during his time at Liverpool but is likely to be on the bench to face Manchester United at Selhurst Park on Monday.
The goalkeeper spent six successful years at Fluminense and has also spent time at Liverpool
