Top Australian furniture brand Koala released a pet bed that sold out in thirty-six hours.
The limited edition $250 ‘Furbaby’ came after years of countless requests from customers and was a natural progression from the brand’s world-renowned sofas and mattresses.
Only 120 Furbabys were available for purchase in the country and the release was boosted by Australian influencer Ozzy Man Reviews along with a number of rising petfluencers.
Over 2 million people viewed the social media release event and the video received 40,000 likes and 6,500 shares.

Chief Commercial Officer Rory Costello was shocked by the speedy results. ‘We didn’t expect this reaction at all,’ he said in a press release. ‘It’s our fastest-selling product.’
When asked about the inspiration behind Koala’s unconventional product launch, Costello cited lockdown and a new-found love Australians have for their pets.
‘After spending so much time with our pets because of the pandemic, we designed the Furbaby so that your four legged friend can be just as comfortable on their bed as customers are on their award-winning Koala products.’
An instant fan-favourite, the product amassed multiple positive reviews online.
‘I can’t wait to have matching beds with my dog,’ commented an Instagram-user.
Another got into a gifting-mood, ‘surely I know someone with a dog who deserves a Christmas present.’
The product features 100% human-quality polyester upholstery, a removable cover that can simply be wiped clean or machine-washed for no-fuss care.

Though Australia’s highest-rated mattress brand rolled out the Furbaby as a limited edition product, there’s already a petition entitled ‘bring back Koala’s PET BEDS.’
‘He’s not an aspiring dogfluencer or preoccupied with his own TikTok,’ wrote petition-starter Sarah Morrison about her Blue Heeler, Toby. ‘He is a gentleman of simple things, and he deserves the best sleep he can get.’
‘I promised him a pet bed for Christmas,’ Morrison went on. ‘So Koala, if you’re reading this … don’t be a Grinch and get your act together. You know what to do.’
