Cyclist charged over attacking bus driver in Brisbane

  • Cyclist, 46, has been charged after allegedly attacking a bus driver, 49 
  • The attack occurred after the cyclists followed driver back to Brisbane depot

A cyclist has handed himself in after allegedly following a bus driver to a Brisbane depot and punching him several times in the face in a shocking case of road rage. 

Dash cam footage of the incident shows the pair arguing before the cyclist, still in his riding gear and helmet, allegedly punches the driver and flees the scene.

The 49-year-old driver suffered cuts to his eye and lip in the brutal assault.

The attack allegedly happened after the driver overtook the cyclist while driving around Toowong on Tuesday night. 

Police say shortly after the bike rider followed the driver to a nearby bus depot, where he punched him before fleeing the scene.

‘After exiting the bus the driver was allegedly confronted by the male cyclist,’ police said. 

A 46-year-old Kenmore man turned himself in to police early on Thursday. 

He was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

He will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 14.
