Just hours after officially leaving office as the New York governor, Andrew Cuomo was also stripped of his honorary Emmy Award, which Cynthia Nixon poked some fun at.

Cuomo, 63, was accused by several women of sexual misconduct, with an investigation by New York Attorney General Letitia James, which concluded that the governor ‘sexually harassed multiple women,’ which, ‘violated federal and state law.’

The former governor announced his resignation two weeks ago, and after leaving office on Tuesday, the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences decided to rescind the special Emmy award he won for his daily COVID-19 briefings.

The allegations against Cuomo started in December 2020, covering a range of sexual misconduct behavior, which Cuomo denied.

New York Attorney General Letitia James hired an independent law firm to investigate the claims in February 2021, with the investigation complete in August.

The investigation found that Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women during his time in office, which lead to pressure from multiple places – including President Biden – to resign, which he did on August 10.

The resignation would take effect in 14 days, and when Cuomo left office on Tuesday, it coincided with the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announcing they’re rescinding Cuomo’s special Emmy.

‘The International Academy announced today that in light of the New York Attorney General’s report, and Andrew Cuomo’s subsequent resignation as Governor, it is rescinding his special 2020 International Emmy Award,’ the statement began.

‘His name and any reference to his receiving the award will be eliminated from International Academy materials going forward,’ the statement concluded.
