She is back in her beloved role as Miranda Hobbes.

But Sex And The City actress Cynthia Nixon has caused a stir by wearing a Palestinian flag-themed shirt in a trailer for the comedy-drama spin-off And Just Like That.

Her split button-down shirt had one half of it bearing the colours and pattern of the Palestinian flag and she paired it with a red tie.

Ms Nixon, 59, asks in a clip alongside co-stars: ‘What’s in store for season three?’

She denied the outfit was a subtle tactic to share her support for Palestine, but she has been outspoken on the Israel-Hamas war.

Ms Nixon’s representative said: ‘The shirt was provided to Cynthia at a marketing shoot by the series wardrobe department. 

‘Any similarities to the colours are coincidence.’ 

But the star was criticised by social media users for wearing the flag of a territory whose leadership does not support gay rights.

One user wrote Ms Nixon has ‘unofficially crowned herself the Grand Marshal of the next Hamas Pride Parade – because siding with anti-progressives is a progressive credential’.

Ms Nixon did post in 2023: ‘How can Israel ‘intensify strikes’ when they already dropped more bombs in one week than the US dropped in the first year of our war on Afghanistan?’

In season three of And Just Like That out in May, Sarah Jessica Parker, 60, returns to play Carrie Bradshaw.
