Dad stuns the internet with ingenious Ziploc bag hack: ‘Best thing since sliced bread!’

A father-of-three has shared an ingenious Ziploc bag hack that could help save you money by making each box last twice as long.

Dustin Hadley, also known by his username that40yearguy, shared the little-known tip on his popular TikTok channel – which is dedicated to coming up with clever ideas to make his fans’ lives a little easier.

Hadley, who has four million followers, demonstrated how people can cut a Ziploc bag into two by using a sharp knife that had been heated over an open flame.

The heat ensures the edges are properly sealed – giving you two smaller bags for the price of one.

‘Make your own snack-sized bags for kids or smaller portions,’ the video caption added.

Fans flocked to the comments section to express their excitement over the life hack.

One said: ‘I can’t even with the Ziploc bag trick! Amazing! Thank you!!!’

‘That’s the best thing since sliced bread!!!’ another added.

A third said: ‘Dang, Why I didn’t think of that and complained about not having the right size bags and so much waste.’

However, experts warned that heating a knife over an open flame can risk damaging the utensil, Parade reported – so do not use an expensive one.

Hadley also shared several other tips within the same video.

One hack demonstrated how to wrap a present with wrapping paper that was cut too small.

‘Normally I’ll either cut me a whole new piece or cut me a little strip taped down where I didn’t cut it right,’ he said before trying the hack.

But by rotating the gift and placing it diagonally on the paper, it can stretch a bit further.

The hack uses a hot knife heated over a gas stove to cut and seal one Ziploc bag into two functional half-size Ziploc bags

Another hack shows how to easily unwrap a lollipop.

Hadley begins by saying: ‘I am a sucker for a lollipop and something I don’t understand is why the wrappers have to be so hard to get off.’

He then demonstrates how to grip the top of the lollipop and the bottom of the wrapper, before twisting back and forth to release it.

His final tip showed how to bring a helium balloon back down after getting stuck on the ceiling: just spray it with water.
