Dak Prescott dropped a shocking hint that he could leave the Dallas Cowboys after next season.

Prescott will be 31 the next time he throws an NFL pass, as he enters the final season of his 4-year, $160million contract.

Based on Prescott’s words, a new contract being ironed out before the season start looks unlikely, and places the team’s franchise quarterback prone to free agency.

The Cowboys have not advanced to a conference championship game during Prescott’s tenure with the team despite repeated regular-season success.

Prescott has played for the Cowboys for his entire NFL career, since being selected by the team in the fourth round of the 2016 draft.

‘I don’t have any fears. I’m not going to say I fear being here or not. I don’t fear either situation to be candid with y’all,’ Prescott said Sunday night. ‘I love this game and love to play and love to better myself as a player and my teammates around me.’

‘Right now it’s with the Dallas Cowboys, it’s where I want to be, and that’s where I am and that’s the focus,’ Prescott added. ‘After the season, we’ll see where we’re at and if the future holds that. If not, well go from there.’

Prescott may be entering his fourth decade on the planet, but would be valued as a starter outside of Dallas, where finding a franchise quarterback is a premium goal around the league.

Soon-to-be-36-year-old Kirk Cousins just signed a $180million contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Aaron Rodgers will be 41 in December and has his hooks into the New York Jets.

Prescott would have a similar market, while the Cowboys would likely fear losing one of their most consistent players over the last decade.
