Dakota Fanning slips into frilly lavender dress on shopping trip

Celebs flocked from Los Angeles to Coachella at the weekend.

But this Saturday, Dakota Fanning remained in town, where she was spotted wearing a frill-hemmed lavender dress with a low V-neck.

The 24-year-old actress, who has been a star since she was seven years old, was accompanied by her navy-clad mother Heather Joy Arrington.

On the go: This Saturday, Dakota Fanning remained in Los Angeles, where she was pap-snapped wearing a frill-hemmed lavender dress with a low V-neck

When she was glimpsed out with Heather, Dakota had slicked her signature blonde hair severely back and popped on a pair of cat-eye shades.

Her dress was tied at the waist to emphasize her trim waistline, and the big sister of Elle Fanning rounded off the look with open-toed slippers.

Meanwhile, 50-year-old Heather had pulled her tortoiseshell shades up onto the top of her head and was carrying three shopping bags, including one from Louis Vuitton.

Dakota discussed her mother’s role in her career while doing publicity for her 2013 film The Last Of Robin Hood, a biopic of Old Hollywood star Errol Flynn.

In that movie, Dakota played real-life little-known actress Beverly Aadland – whom the then middle-aged Errol was depicted having an affair with when she was a teenager – opposite Susan Sarandon as Beverly’s relentlessly pushy mother Florence.

According to UPI, while promoting the movie, Dakota drew a distinction between Florence and Heather, saying: ‘I don’t have any experience with stage mothers.’

Said she: ‘My mom was not….The main difference was Susan’s character is totally forcing Beverly to be an actress and Beverly just doesn’t really have any desire and she doesn’t care one way or another and, with me, it was just the opposite.’

Dakota explained: ‘My mom was like: “I’m ready to go home. If you don’t want to do this anymore, you don’t have to. We can go home to Georgia.” When we were in LA, and I was like: “No, I want to stay. I like it!”‘

The 2001 film I Am Sam was Dakota’s ticket to fame, and she has sustained a career in the movies ever since, including in the forthcoming Oceans 8.
