Damian Lewis supports wife Helen McCrory at Loving Vincent

She is widely known as the feisty Polly Gray in hit TV series Peaky Blinders.

But Helen McCrory was worlds away from her Romani character on Monday, as she made a glamorous arrival at the Loving Vincent premiere, during the 61st BFI Film Festival.

The actress, 46, was utterly sophisticated in a trendy monochrome jumpsuit, as she joined her co-stars and husband Damian Lewis, at the screening in London.

The Skyfall star was the picture of class in the jumpsuit, which pulled into a Victoriana-style high neck and extended into billowing cream sleeves, to give the illusion of a shirt underneath.

Cinching in at her slim middle, the one-piece then expanded out into striking flared trousers, which skimmed her long legs to the floor.

Maintaining the retro feel with black patent heels, lined with white trim, the actress then opted to go without accessories, to let her show-stopping look do the talking.

She kept her famous pixie crop neatly styled and adding only a sweeping of blusher and pale pink lip to her face, to draw attention to her enviably youthful and glowing complexion.

Letting Helen steal the show on her big night, Damian then posed separately from his wife later on, in a smart spotted shirt and navy blazer.

Smartening the look up with slick leather loafers, the Homeland actor appeared in good spirits as he beamed widely for cameras, before joining his wife inside for the screening.

The pair first hit it off while treading the boards of Five Gold Rings at London’s Almeida in 2003, and tied the knot four years later.

The celebrity couple now raise their two children, 10-year-old daughter Manon and nine-year-old son Gulliver, at their home in the capital.

They moved to Los Angeles in the late half of 2007 while Damian filmed NBC-TV crime drama Life, but moved back to north London in 2009.

Helen recently revealed to the Radio Times that when she met the flame-haired actor, it had been love at first sight.

‘He just made me laugh a lot. And still does,’ she gushed of her husband.

‘Of course, everyone in life wants someone to love and be loved by, but I think I was always just engrossed and involved in work. And no, the timing was pure fluke, pure chance, it always is, isn’t it?’

Damian was supporting his wife at the UK premiere of her new film Loving Vincent, which depicts the life of famous painter Vincent Van Gogh.

In an ode to the Dutchman’s famous artistry, the flick, created by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, is the first ever fully-painted animation.

Making the feat more impressive, each of the film’s 65,000 frames was created as a real canvas oil painting by a team of 115 painters – utilising Van Gogh’s own technique.

Robert Gulaczyk, a Polish theatre actor, provides the voice of the artist himself, while Helen as Louise Chevalier, one of the painter’s subjects.

The premiere was also attended by Douglas Booth, who appears in the film, singer Lianne La Havas and comedian Jack Whitehall.
