Dancing With The Stars’ 2025 hosts are revealed after Dr Chris Brown’s debut with Sonia Kruger prompted very mixed reactions

The hosts for the 2025 series of Dancing With The Stars Australia have been revealed after Dr Chris Brown and Sonia Kruger provoked some mixed reactions.

TV presenter Chris, 45, made his debut on the Channel Seven show with returning host Sonia, 58, on the 2024 series, but not all fans were impressed with the duo.

Some disgruntled viewers called for the return of Daryl Somers as veterinarian Chris received a very lukewarm reception upon his long-awaited debut.

Despite the criticism, it has been revealed that both Chris and Sonia will be back to once again helm the celebrity dancing competition next year.

Chris is said to have signed a three-year deal with the network, while show veteran Sonia is up for most popular presenter and personality at the 2024 Logie Awards.

‘Sonia and Chris being put together on Dancing With The Stars is a really big investment from the network,’ a source told Yahoo! Lifestyle.

‘Channel Seven always knew this was their first step and they have enjoyed watching them get to know each other on camera,’ the source shares.

‘By next year viewers will have forgotten what this show looked like before them, the audience always takes some time with adjustments to these long-running shows.’

Chris took over from Aussie TV legend Daryl as co-host of Dancing With The Stars this series, after his departure from the show was confirmed in October last year.

However, Chris’ debut on the popular program received a lukewarm reception from underwhelmed fans last month.

Viewers took to X at the time to comment on the hosting change-up, with most bemoaning the loss of Hey Hey It’s Saturday star Daryl, 72, from their screens.

One person wrote: ‘I’m watching #DancingAU but feel sorry that Daryl isn’t hosting.’

‘Don’t get me wrong, I love Dr Chris Brown, but I feel sorry for Daryl Somers,’ another said.

A third took a direct shot at Daryl’s replacement, commenting: ‘We still trying to make Chris Brown happen?’

Others disagreed with the naysayers, with one person saying: ‘I think Chris is going to be great in the post-performance, sky lounge role.’

With some unimpressed with Chris' debut, Sonia also copped criticism as she came to the season ready with jokes against her former co-host Daryl Somers (pictured), who quit last year

Sonia also copped her fair share of criticism as she came to the season ready with jokes at the expense of her former co-host Daryl.

Television icon Daryl left the show at the end of the last season, and Sonia boldly opted to take a little dig at her former colleague.

‘I was actually very seriously injured on Dancing with the Stars. I had to have, in fact, a host amputated,’ she joked to Chris.

While the comment got a laugh from the audience on the show, not everyone watching at home was impressed.

‘Sonia’s repeated b***chy comments about Daryl Somers are not funny, they are unprofessional, mean and plain unnecessary,’ one person fumed.

‘If I ever was going to vote for her for the Gold Logie, I’m certainly not going to now. Appalling,’ they added, before calling Sonia a ‘mean girl’.

Daryl previously hosted Dancing With The Stars between 2004 and 2007, before returning from 2021 until 2023 alongside co-host Sonia.
