Former race car driver Danica Patrick has revealed her unusual workout routine: pausing a gym session to pray.

The 43-year-old, who drove in IndyCar and NASCAR, recently posted a picture of her and a friend on her Instagram story.

It showed them both of them on their knees, leaning on a bench with their heads bowed, while others around them continued their workouts.

‘Sometimes we pray,’ the picture caption read. It comes a few weeks after she went viral over a beach vacation picture.

Back in 2017, Patrick released a book – ‘Pretty Intense’ – which gave fans the chance to follow her ’90-day program to sculpt your body, calm your mind and achieve your greatest goals’.

The former driver boasted of a ‘high-intensity workout’ and ‘protein-rich, paleo-inspired eating plan’ as well as a ‘mental-conditioning program’.

It promised to get fans ‘leaner, stronger, and healthier than you’ve ever been before’, claiming ‘her accessible workouts hit the holy trinity of fitness: strength, endurance, and flexibility’.

Patrick, who previously dated NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers, has become a vocal political voice in recent months.

She initially endorsed Robert F. Kennedy Jr for last year’s presidential election before following his lead and backing Donald Trump to reclaim the White House.

This is not the first time that religion has put the former driver in the spotlight. Back in 2020, Rodgers appeared on her ‘Pretty Intense’ podcast.

The quarterback spoke about his Christian upbringing, making comments that reportedly ‘dismayed’ his estranged family.

‘It’s set up binary, it’s us and them. It’s saved and unsaved, it’s heaven and hell,’ Rodgers said.

‘I don’t know how you can believe in a God who wants to condemn most of the planet to a fiery hell.’

According to reports at the time, Rodgers’ family considered the comments ‘a slap in the face to the fundamentals of who they are’ and suggested that Rodgers was ‘basically him turning his back on everything they have taught him.’
